Up for sale, a 1982 Tokai Love Rock LS50 electric guitar in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. With production beginning in 1977, Tokai's iteration of the LP Standard eventually gained the Love Rock moniker seen on this model, advertised in the '82 catalog as a "1958 Model," and living up to that assertion with great adherence to vintage Gibson specifications. Made with the utmost quality of craftsmanship, this Love Rock features a solid mahogany body, carved maple top, and a pair of original LS Dynamic-II humbuckers.

Acoustically, this guitar has a present, chimey projection, with a nice midrange resonance. The LS Dynamic II humbuckers are extremely powerful, metering at a whopping 18k ohms. The pickups handle gain well with a smooth compression and low end churn. Aggressive without being overly bright, both humbuckers have a distinct, clear sound, sure to interact famously with your tube amp of choice. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, this Tokai Love Rock is dialed in with 10-46 strings, low action, and solid intonation.

The one-piece mahogany neck has a medium C profile carve bordering on the chunky side of things with good shoulder and moderate taper, measuring .870" deep at the 1st fret and .975" at the 12th. The bound rosewood fretboard features the original medium jumbo frets which retain their full height with lots of meat and only a touch of wear beneath G and B strings on frets 1-2. The guitar plays effortlessly in every register, and the neck is straight with a responsive truss rod. The rosewood fretboard features pearl trapezoid inlays and original cream binding. The nut measures 1 11/16" in width, and on the headstock, the original Kluson-style single line tuners with pearloid tulip buttons are intact.

All of the electronics work as they should, and the double cream bobbin LS Dynamic-II humbuckers are wired to a unique original circuit board wiring harness. The chrome hardware and plastic parts are extremely clean, with "Made in Japan" stamped on the underside of both the ABR-1-style bridge and stopbar tailpiece. In terms of cosmetic wear, the guitar boasts a 100% stock Ebony gloss finish with zero touchups or overspray. The maple top shows scuffing across the pick path and a few shallow nicks, primarily behind the bridge on the lower bout. There are some additional expected minor scuffs and nicks on the back, and a few nicks on the profile as well, but nothing distracting while fretting. The guitar has zero cracks or repairs, and this is a straight, well-kept example, emblematic of the best '80s Japanese-made LPs.

A gigbag is included.
