Mosrite was an American guitar company based in Bakersfield CA from the late 1950s to the early 1990s. Founded by Semie Mosely, an earlier Rickenbacker employee, Mosrite guitars were played by many rock and roll and country artists. Mosrite guitars were known for innovative design, high-quality engineering, very thin, low-fretted and narrow necks, and extremely high output pickups. Moseley's design for surf/pop band The Ventures, known as the "Ventures Model" (later known as the "Mark I"), was generally considered the flagship of the line.
The Mosrite Ventures II model was the student/entry level model of the Ventures signature series. It started out as a simple slab body guitar with a slightly shorter scale length but it was quickly upgraded with a better vibrato system, better pickups, and a body with a German carve. When these upgrades were introduced the Mk. V model number was given to this upgraded guitar. Only around 600 Mk. V guitars were made from ’66 to ’68.
This Mk. V with serial number "B 1313" is in great over all, original condition. The original frets are low, (as they were from the factory) but the guitar plays great and the typical skinny neck feels very comfortable. The pickups are quite powerful. They sound clear and bright when played clean, but very raunchy when overdriven. The original double line Kluson tuners still work fine and hold their tuning well.
