This 5 string banjo is also sometimes called a "Presentation Model." Gold-plated, engraved hardware, highly figured tiger maple resonator and neck, and Earl Scruggs' real signature on the banjo head and inside on the rim. Additionally, Earl's signature is inlaid on the back of the instrument resonator and the truss rod cover reads "Earl Scruggs Special." The tailpiece is also engraved "Special." Brilliant abalone inlay surrounds the instrument and just explodes in color and radiance in sunlight or indoors.
The Earl Scruggs Special Banjo has a big sound--that clear, ringing Gibson banjo sound. It's set up with a Sullivan roasted maple banjo bridge and notes true up and down the neck, with a nice low playing action. There are gold-plated Scruggs-Keith tuners on the G and B strings and the original tuners are wrapped up and included in the case. Please check out the pictures and video for details and please feel free to email with questions. There is one blemish on the peghead in the middle just under the flower stem. It's been filled with black lacquer/enamel as far as I can tell.
