 Greco Thunderbird Bass! Killer sound!

Description

Extremely faithful to the Gibson Thunderbird IV of the early '60s, this bass easily beats any modern Gibson reissue and can truly stand toe-to-toe with the originals in terms of feel and tonal range. Acoustically resonant and as well balanced, with equal parts low end punch and top end grind. Solid mahogany, set neck construction and vintage style three-point bridge with tailpiece. The neck has a medium C profile with a 34" scale length, a nut width that's a full 1 11/16" and nickel tuning machines with clover buttons. The face of the head stock is reminiscent of the classic Gibson shape, with a carved, three-dimensional appearance with the lowest tier matching the color of the body, and the upper tier finished in black. Individual volume controls for each pickup and a master tone.

I am not sure of the model number.  The 1989 catalog shows a model TB-75 but the number of dots on the neck is different. So I cannot say for sure.  I can say for sure that this is a great sounding bass!

The neck is true and the action is low (see photos).

  • There is very little, if any, wear on the frets. This bass is ready to rock!
  • Incredibly faithful pickups to the original Gibson design. Nickel pickup covers, bridge and tailpiece.
  • The solid mahogany, set neck construction and vintage style three-point bridge with tailpiece add up to an instrument that sustains endlessly and sounds fantastic!
  • It is missing the original truss rod cover. I will supply a plain black one.
  • I don't think that the knobs are original.
  • There appears to have been a bit of damage/compromising around the input jack mounting area that was fixed with a liberal application of epoxy cement. It does not look all that pretty, but it is solid.
  • While I am not 100% positive, I believe that this is a TB-750.

For a bass that is 30 years old, there is remarkably little oxidation.

It does NOT come with a case.  It will be carefully packed and protected for its journey from Japan. Don't miss your chance to own one of these sought-after and prized basses! These are rare, even here in Japan, particularly in as good a shape as this one.
Note Due to the cessation of EMS and SAL from Japan, this guitar can only ship by "surface" mail, which means by ship. Typical shipping time is app. 2 months and there is no tracking.

That's the "bad" part.
The good part is, I will cover all shipping costs, so the price you see listed is the price you pay, (plus whatever tax Reverb collects)
