This is an open-back, 5-string S.S. Stewart banjo. The S-B Monogram logo on the back of the headstock indicates it's a product of the Stewart/Bauer merger of companies around 1900. GRADE 2 banjos were student models with solid construction but no frills. This one is restored to play easily and sound great. 27" scale, 11" pot, dowel is marked - S.S.STEWART, PHIL'A U.S.A., GRADE 2, #65699. New tuners, bridge, tailpiece, skin head and nylon strings. Otherwise all original. Very good condition with no dings, breaks or repairs. Chipboard case. Contact me with any questions or comments. Thanks for looking.
