CONSIGNED GUITAR:

This guitar was formally owned by Charles Manson and was his favorite acoustic guitar for 4-5 years.

Manson, due to his notoriety, received this guitar through another inmate (David Hooker) because inmates at Corcoran were not allowed to receive guitars worth more than $200-250 at the time. The Martin name was therefore removed from the headstock prior to shipment to David Hooker...his friend / fellow inmate. This guitar at the time it was purchased was $2200.

Manson etched his famous symbols of M for “Man” and another symbol that denotes “Sun” to show MANSON on the headstock in Norse symbols. The blood seen inside the sound hole is indeed Manson’s blood. He had cut his finger changing the strings....

The guitar includes a electronic guitar tuner that was etched by Charles Manson, spare pegs from the guitar, some spare strings(also signed by Manson), a 5 x 7 photograph of the guitar (signed by Manson) as well as some postcards that were with the guitar and signed by Manson along with his artwork.

The guitar even includes David Hooker’s registration which was sent to the Martin Guitar Company for this particular guitar which matches the serial number.

So at the very least we know that this was in David Hooker’s hands (Hooker etched his name on the back and his inmate number is on the hard case). Hooker sent the original label that was inside the guitar and that letter will also be included to the buyer.

The winner will also receive an extremely private telephone conversation with Charles Manson verifying that he played and owned this guitar and it was among his favorite “boxes” (guitars). Manson referred to his personal guitars as “my old box.” Manson even plays guitar on one of the calls and “sings” which was extremely rare.

Manson took lots of time to “age” the guitar by removing the clear coat finish off of the front and back of the guitar although it is still in great condition. The guitar looks far older than it is.

The wolf paws that were etched into the guitar along with lightning bolt. These symbols are well known to Manson collectors. Manson often referred to his “family members” as “wolves.”

This confirms that Charles Manson or at least a highly devoted follower would have done such a thing to such an expensive guitar. Manson confirms this on the call as well.

If you note, the same person in the photograph is visiting both David Hooker and Charles Manson....proving their close relationship. It is hard to be on the visitation list of multiple inmates in the same prison.

MANSON was in fear that it would be seized after rumors got out about him with a guitar over $200. With Hooker’s assistance, he sent it back out. Charlie was incapable of such tasks due to his SHU housing situation.

David Hooker is currently serving a life sentence for killing a police officer. He is around 58 years old today.

This is a pretty famous guitar and formerly displayed in a Hollywood museum for true crime relics.

This was obtained before Manson’s passing at age 83.
