Thanks for having a look at my listing!
I do have other guitars and amp cabinets up for sale so please have a look at my other listings!
History:
This beautiful cabinet was born as a Philco radio, per the Philco Radio website gallery page, please see photos.
Why I chose an antique radio cabinet:
We all know instruments made of wood sound better and better the more they are played. They "open up", they warm up, etc.
Well, this lovely lady has had music and vocals running through it for 80+ years!
I am convinced that antique radio cabinets provide some of the best (if not THE BEST) tones in the guitar amp cabinet marketplace for the above reason.
Modifications Made (in short):
· Cabinet Exterior: A LOT of love went into this cabinet. Many, many, many hours put into this one! I sanded the original finish off and decided to stain it with a red guitar body dye. Then came the many, many coats of polyurethane on it. I also chose a traditional black grill cloth, which turned out awesome! I also added some very cool knobs on the front to add to the finish the vintage look. And added large, rubber feet to the bottom to avoid any mishaps with flooring. Lastly, I added a plywood ceiling, plywood floor, and a plywood back to the sound chamber, all stained black with some coats of poly on them. That plywood added quite a bit of weight, but it now feels even more solid and all of the tone comes out the front. However, if you prefer the cabinet without the extra wood, it can be removed.
· Cabinet Interior: To the inside speaker board I attached a 12 inch Eminence Legend EM12 speaker in England speaker, 200 Watt & 8 Ohm impedance, a 1/4 inch jack, and named her "Rosie".
Dimensions:
Cabinet: 42“ x 26” x 14”
Holds:
Speaker: 12 inch Eminence Legend EM12 speaker, 200 Watt & 8 Ohm impedance. Speaker choice is immensely subjective. I chose this one for its tone right out of the box, since I bought it brand new for $162. Regarded as one of the best re-engineered speakers, this lady sings. However, if you would prefer another speaker I can take it out and replace it with another of your choice.
Shipping:
Sadly, Greyhound shipping went away as a casualty of covid. We do have a few alternatives ...
1. UPS: I have a buddy who has been a manager with UPS for many years. He can crate it for about $125. I can also box it up myself, if you prefer for basically no cost, assuming I can find a box or boxes big enough. Then it will be about $300-500 to ship it to you, depending on proximity to Scottsdale, AZ. In other words, if you live on the west coast it will be closer to $300. If you live on the east coast, $500.
2. UShip: Great idea for shipping, however execution is very spotty. If you prefer this method, I'm happy to discuss it with you.
3. If you are anywhere in Arizona, I'm happy to deliver it to you for a small fee again depending on proximity to Scottsdale, AZ.
- Please ask any and all questions. I'm happy to answer them.
Also happy to provide additional photos, upon request.
Sold "as is" due to age of cabinet.
