Guitar Riot is pleased to offer Cleveland Luthier Jeff Jewitt's beautiful flat top acoustic guitars. Jeff is well known in the acoustic guitar building community (see bio below.) Please stop by and play a few to hear and feel how lovely these acoustics are.

0 - Mahogany - This exquisite guitar is the smallest guitar in the "Buckeye" Series. A premium Sitka spruce top is paired with gorgeous mahogany that is lightly stained. This little guitar packs a punch. Whether you strum or finger-pick, this beauty really responds. The neck profile is finger-style, like a vintage OM, but a little smaller for the smaller body on this guitar. A short 24.9" scale really allows you to dig in and bend if you like to do lead work. Gold EVO fretwire and Gotoh tuners contrast nicely with the ebony peg head and fretboard. Fretboard and body are bound with highly figured curly maple and really frame the darker mahogany nicely.

About Jeff Jewitt:

Jeff Jewitt has been involved in the musical instrument business for over 30 years. Although primarily known as a furniture restoration expert and finisher, he caught the lutherie bug in the late 1980’s. After building a few kit guitars as practice, he then built his first “built-from-scratch” guitar in 1987 following William Cumpiano’s book “Guitarmaking – Tradition and Technology.” Finding full- time lutherie a bit of a financial struggle, he began to focus primarily on furniture restoration, antique repairs and refinishing and operated a very successful business with his wife Susan. Always looking to find better ways of doing things, in the 1990’s he began developing dye stains under the TransFast® and TransTint® names – products which are currently used by many of the major guitar manufacturers as well as thousands of guitar-makers and wood finishers. He started Homestead Finishing Products in 1994 and currently operates this business to the present day. Among Homestead’s customers are Gibson, Martin, Breedlove, Collings and Santa Cruz guitars, as well and hundreds of smaller boutique guitar makers all over the world.

Jeff has written 4 books on Finishing and 2 books on Refinishing. He has been associated with Fine Woodworking Magazine for over 20 years and has authored hundreds of articles and technical advice. He’s done 4 DVD style videos and 3 on-line courses on Finishing Acoustic Guitars and building. He has taught finishing courses all over the country and has also spoken at the annual AWFS furniture show as well as presented at the ASIA symposiums in 2017 and 2019. In the Summer of 2017 he was invited to present at The Northwoods Seminar at the Bryan Galloup School of Woodworking. Jeff’s expertise in finishing is frequently sought by guitar makers and shops all over the world.

Over the years, Jeff always found time to devote to his passion, which is building acoustic guitars. While capable in almost any style of flat top guitar, his passion are the smaller body styles, based on Gibson and Martin designs.

Jeff attended University School in Hunting Valley, Ohio and graduated in 1972. He received his BA in Studio Arts in 1976 from Kenyon College. He and his wife, Susan, currently reside in Strongsville, Ohio (a suburb of Cleveland).
