About This Listing

These Ludwigs can be tuned low for pop gigs or tune them REALLY high play some jazz. Badges as well as bearing edges are all original from the factory. The original wrap is tight on all three drums and each of the drums has a mounted muffler.  It is amazing to me how lightweight these are compared to modern drums, yet they sound so good.   I did not do any cleaning on these drums other than dusting them and playing them.
Details below, but first a quote from the Rogers' Wiki page showing that having a Rogers tom holder places you in good company:

"Rogers was renowned for its highly-innovative hardware. Much of it was developed by Thompson, including the Swiv-o-Matic line of bass drum pedals, hi-hats, cymbal stands, and tom-tom holders. The cymbal stands and tom-tom holders featured a ball-and-socket tilting mechanism. Even  Ludwig drummers like Ringo Starr of The Beatles, Mitch Mithcell of The Jimi Hendrix Experience, and John Bonham of Led Zeppelin used some Swiv-o-Matic hardware items on their kits.  Neil Peart used a single Swivo-o-Matic tom holder on his large Slingerland and Tama drum kits through the mid-1980s in order to position a tom-tom directly over the center of one of his bass drums."

- 14x18 bass drum Serial #657171:   No extra holes but original owner preferred a Rogers tom mount instead of stock Ludwig mount. Either the factory or the local dealer drilled the holes for this mount.   What baffles me is why did these drummers also paint the inside of the shells? In this case, the bass drum inside shows no original white paint and no date because it is painted silver. Maybe he was a Gretsch enthusiast?  Bass drum batter hoop could use some stouching up but no cracks and it also has original Ludwig telescoping spurs. The Rogers tom mount is machined and holds very well.

- 8X12 tom Serial #658893:   This drum is a match to the 18” bass drum and had the Rogers mount installed and is similarly painted silver on the inside of the shell.  The Rogers machined collet holds the drum solidly. This drum can be tuned very high and does not choke – incredible! Unfortunately a later owner took the rogers mount off and had a pearl mount installed, so this drum has three extra holes form the Pearl mount, which are covered by the original Rogers tom mount – so the holes are not visible. I feel certain this 12 and the 18 were born together.

- 14x14 Floor tom Serial #670553:   All original Ludwig in every way. Stamp is clearly visible inside dated Dec 30, 1968. In direct sunlight, this drum shows it's not quite as shiny as the 18 and 12, but in normal light and of course under stage lighting, it visually matches very well.   All three drums sound so great together, it's been a pleasure owning them.
