This is a used, made in Japan, ESP Custom Shop HSS  Hardtail strat. The overall condition is Very Good to Excellent. There are four blemishes worth noting:

1) Some finish ghosting behind the nut at the E, A and high E slots (photo 13).
2) Some light impressions on the back of the neck right around the 10th fret (photos 18-19). I have not found these to affect playability.
3) A 2" stretch of worming by the output jack plate (photos 7-8).
4) A bump at the top of the headstock (photo 6).

There are a few other faint, small scratches on the bottom of the instrument by the lower strap button that I tried to capture (photo 9), as well as a few on the treble side of the body. These are only visible in very specific lighting. There is some tarnish on the neck plate (photo 17), and some tarnish on the bridge components (photo 10), but I was able to adjust all bridge components during setup and everything turns and moves smoothly.

The guitar plays phenomenally. Fingerboard is pretty flat with a 16" radius and the neck is relatively thin with a D shaped profile that plays very fast. Contoured heel for better upper fret access. String height is 3/64" across the board at the last fret with almost no buzzing and little neck relief. The fretwork is very impressive. The ebony fingerboard is very smooth and free of imperfections. The frets have virtually zero wear. If you play with a heavy hand, you may want that action to come up a bit, or you may want to add a bit of neck relief, but most players would probably find it pretty agreeable right now.

Pickups are very chimey. It is unclear what brand or model they are. There are no markings or other identifiers. All solder work appears to be original and is well done. The bridge humbucker is a Seymour Duncan TB-14 Custom 5 Trembucker that has a nice punch when clean, and a good bit of snarl when gained up. The single coils hum cancel in the 4 position, and there is no coil tap in the 2 position.

The guitar does not include the original case or any COA. I reached out to ESP Customer Service when I acquired the guitar to see if they could provide any additional info. They said it was the genuine article, but admitted that their record keeping is somewhat lackluster and guessed it was built some time in the early 2000s and sold outside the US market. I can provide those emails if desired. The guitar will come in a new, aftermarket case.

I do charge shipping on my listings, but also hand deliver (if desired) within 250 miles of 06468. In the event that I deliver to you, the shipping charge covers my gas to and from your location. I hate FedEx and UPS with a passion, and much rather deliver your new gear in person, safer, faster and with greater priority than the shipping companies. It just saves us all a lot of anxiety.
