This superb 5 string bass was designed and built by Ned Steinberger alongside John Bolin who is known to make high quality instruments for bands like The Rolling Stones & ZZ Top. A superb playing and sounding bass that is now very rare as they aren’t made anymore.
Great looking in a tastefully transparent quilted maple top, the rest of the bass is black. The EMG humbucker and bridge mounted piezo pickup produces a very full & clean tone that is nicely flexible due to effective and intuitive controls. I read that these are known to be great for fingerstyle. It has an ebony board,18volt preamp & with its EMG pickup in the sweet spot & a piezo under each string with individual trim pot for each string for more defined articulation for slapping etc. This is one superbly comfortable, resonant and responsive Bass.
The build quality is excellent and it becomes very obvious when holding the bass. It’s rock solid stable whilst retaining a delicate feel, this has been designed by a person who knows his craft. Little touches like the rear facing machine heads and 3+2 open slot headstock design optimises string break-angle and tension as well as giving very cool & novel set up that looks and feels top notch. The hinged strap arm offers great balance and comfort.
These instruments were designed to produce the ultimate in purity of bass tone and also were designed to be comfortable for the player. She has a 35″ scale neck,
One of the unique design features is the headstock/tuner relationship. It is designed with the open face to allow the string a sharper angle across the nut in order to increase the transfer of string vibration thru the neck and body. The neck joint is also built to enhance that contact area as well, while allowing access to the higher frets.

This bass is just beautiful & comes with original case, also in superb condition. She weighs in at a very comfortable 8.5lbs & sounds as beautiful as she looks!
