Looking for a cool, vintage archtop but don't want to spend the high $$ of the big-name brands? Check out this great SS Stewart!
This SS Stewart is probably from the 1930's-40's from what I can tell.
It appears to be all original. It shows some scratches as would be expected for a guitar of this age but compared to others they are quite minimal. The headstock veneer is original and pretty rare.
It's in great condition just having been completely gone over by our luthier. It has had a neck re-set so the action is very nice, all cracks have been repaired and are stable.
The neck and frets are in good condition with lots of life remaining.
It does not have a case but will be very well protected, packed and boxed for shipping.
A little history on SS Stewart: The SS Stewart company, named for Samuel Swain Stewart was a major producer of banjos between 1878 and 1904, and was bought by B&J (Bugellsein & Jacobson) a few years after Stewart’s death. Over the years, B&J shifted to producing mostly guitars with the brand, had many companies build the actual instruments including Chicago Musical Instruments, who also built Harmony, Kay, and Silvertone brands. At the end of the 1920s and the start of the 1930’s, both C F Martin and Gibson also produced some SS Stewart guitars.
