About This Listing

I am offering my 1934 Gibson F5 Gibson reissued in a very limited run. Like Sam Bush's 1937 "Ol' Hoss" this baby plays smoothly and very easy, and has quite the voice.

REDUCED to $26,340 with FREE shipping insured in CUS.

It has been checked head to toe by Randy Wood and he reported that the top and back were very Loar like in their graduations and needed nothing in that area. As with Sam's 37, Randy checked the tone bars that tend to run heavy in construction during this time period and he trimmed them down to Loar dimensions. If you view Sam's interview on YouTube talking about his 37, he mentions how after his having Randy do this tone bar work on his 37, the mandolin just came to life. (See YouTube video attached)
I could not describe it any better, as the true voice came alive on this 34 after Randy trimmed the tone bars down to Loar spec's.
On the archive's it mentions this 1934 Fern SN# 91309 as being refinished. However, after being reviewed by Randy Wolf and others, it was reported to me that it is in fact original, with no signs of refinish work done. I have listed this as very good condition but only to error on the conservative side. Honestly, It would very hard pressed to find any original   Vintage 30’s any cleaner and the pictures reflect such.
  • Peg Head with the finer more Artistic Fern Inlay
  • Teen's "The Gibson" Logo
  • Block Inlay starting at 3rd Fret.
  • Darryl Wolfe reproduction Pickguard with patent date but the gold bracket is vintage.
  • "Rare" Lifton rectagular Case "with" the Key.
  • I will tell you that this one is SPECIAL, and will rival any 1930- 1937 mandolins I have played and held it's own against some of the Loars I have owned.
  • If you have been waiting for a true "Jewel" to come along at a fair value, this is your time.
  • Reduced to $26,340  with FREE shipping insured in CUS.
