With a heavy heart, I am selling my 2009 12-string Grand Chapman Stick. I love this baby but just don't have the time to dedicate to playing it as much as I used to. This Grand Stick is in MINT condition (the only sign of use are a few scuffs on the pickup that can probably wiped off with some rubbing alcohol). If you're unfamiliar with the Chapman Stick, it is a tapping instrument that has both treble and bass sides which can be played simultaneously. The original Stick had 10 strings, but this "Grand Stick" is the extended version that comes with 12 strings (6 on each side).
Here are some specs: all Dark Bamboo wood; The Block PASV-4 pickup; Roland GK-3 MIDI pickup on the treble side; black tuners and black dot inlays; rounded frets; 12 string (6 on each side) currently strung with a light gauge set of Chapman Stick strings with the classic tuning; includes leather strap, official Chapman Stick padded Gig Bag, custom wrench for truss rod turning, and original instruction and care papers from Stick Enterprises.
If you already play the Chapman Stick this is a beautiful instrument to add to your collection. If you don't but would like to, this Stick is perfect to purchase now as opposed to waiting months or over a year in line for Stick Enterprises and Emmet Chapman to build you a new one.
To note a few things: I went with the black colored inlays because, as anyone who plays the Stick knows, when the Stick is properly positioned, a lighter colored dot inlay can be hard to see against the natural color of the wood. The black stands out and is very easy to see. Also, the rounded frets are a feature that I'm told Emmet Chapman is no longer offering. Currently all Sticks come with frets that are almost pyramidal in shape. Having the tops of the frets rounded off gives a more natural feel if you're used to playing guitar and/or bass. Additionally, the GK-3 MIDI pickup is a fantastic option to have in case you want to use your Stick with a MIDI synthesizer or as a controller. It opens up the Stick (which is already incredibly versatile) to becoming an endless source of musical sounds and control. Lastly, the gig bag is the official Chapman Stick padded gig bag, purchased from Stick Enterprises at the time I bought the Stick. The Stick sits perfectly inside and is very well protected.
I paid more back in 2009 than what I am asking for now, but I will entertain all reasonable offers. This Stick is a work of art, as you can see the wood grain and finish are gorgeous. It has been dearly loved and played. It's now time to pass it on to someone who can give it the attention it deserves. Please do not hesitate to ask any questions.
