Antumbra Atom is an excellent open-source micro version of the popular Mutable Instruments Elements digital resonator module. With this kit, you can make a clone of Mutable Instruments Elements that only takes up 18 HP.
*Please note that this is our most difficult build. While it is still easier than builds that require extensive SMD soldering, it involves a fair amount of fine through-hole soldering. If you're not completely comfortable with soldering, I'd recommend a different build (Rings or nanoRings) as a first project.*
This kit includes:
1) A pre-soldered Atom "brain" PCB with pre-flashed ARM chip (no need to spend hours dealing with hundreds of components, soldering tiny ARM chip pins, or buying and learning how to use an ARM programmer). Our PCBs have an ENIG finish (higher quality than most DIY PCBs offered) and are electrically tested.
2) An Atom "control" PCB. This is the PCB that you'll be assembling--placing and soldering jacks, jacklights, trimmers, LEDs, button, and headers.
3) 18 Thonkiconn jacks
4) 2 LEDs (one pink, one turquoise).
5) 5 sturdy PCB spacers.
6) 27 premium-quality trimmer potentiometers
7) One LED push button
8) The necessary male and female headers for connecting the two PCBs.
9) 1 power cable
10) 18 jacklights (note that soldering and placing these is part of the build process, but is relatively quick and easy).
11) 6 jacklight resistors + 1 spare resistor, to be soldered to the Atom "control" PCB.
12) 4 screws to help keep the two PCBs stably attached.
13) A beautiful black Antumbra Atom PCB panel.
Since this is a pre-assembled PCB, little technical knowledge is needed to complete the Atom build and most soldering is through-hole. If any questions arise, I will try to help as time permits, but recommend one of the many DIY communities online for assistance (Facebook, Muffwiggler, et al.).
