Today, Lawman Guitars is Presenting...
A 1966 Mosrite Mark XII 12 String with the original Brown Mosrite Case. This beauty is all original and it plays and sounds great!
This Mosrite has the inprinted serial numbers of T581 on the base of the fretboard and also on the body under the pickguard. Given it also has Mosrite on the Pickups gives me the clues that this one is a 1966 as well as info I received from the shop I found this guitar at. I feel comfortable with that conclusion.
Be sure to check out the video demo we did for this awesome Mosrite Guitar!
The guitar looks really cool. It has some finish missing on the lower bout but from there, only superficial dings and pick scratches. No real buckle rash on the back and the Pickguard doesn’t have any broken tips. It plays and sounds as good as it looks. I have it set up with excellent playing action. It could be lowered a little but these guitars play lightening fast with the flat Mosrite frets. I was asked if it needed a refret. No... You may want to refret at some time but remember that these guitar have very low flat frets. Don't mistake that for needed a refret...No sore fingers with this one. It plays really nice! I took a pick of the pots, see pic 7. The pots appear to be original as does the switch and input jack. Some evidence of soldiering but looks all original to me.
I was told this is the same guitar that was featured in Premier Guitar from Sept 20, 2011 but you be the judge. It would explain the weird marks on the lower bout and the original case does have two working latches.. Cool article.
What a great guitar. I have a Gold Sparkle Mark XI like it and it is one of my favorite guitars. I’m mostly a Gibson guy, but these Mosrites feel right at home in my hands. You will not be disappointed in this guitar.
Check out the original case we got with this guitar. The handle was missing so we hooked it up with a nice leather replacement. See pic 15. One latch is broken but the other two work. The interior and exterior are in great shape given its age. Try to find one of these original Mosrite cases. If you can even find one, expect to pay big bucks to get it. They are getting very very rare!
This guitar is really cool but used and vintage so its sold as is no returns. However, I have been hand picking my customers instruments for over 20 years now and they all love the guitars I find for them. This really cool Mosrite will certainly not be and exception.
Thanks for checking out our cool vintage guitars, amps and guitar parts!
