Hamer USA represents one of the greatest values in American guitar building. These are guitars that were made by a small team of exceptional craftsmen until they were absorbed through the FMIC-Kaman merger and shut down.
This particular guitar was part of a series to celebrate Hamer's 25th anniversary in the late 90s. It features an all mahogany semi-hollow body, a bookmatched mahogany top and a 3-piece mahogany neck. This guitar has a beautiful dark rosewood fingerboard, a Seymour Duncan '59 in the neck, a Seymour Duncan JB in the bridge, and a coil tap on the bridge pickup.
The overall condition of this guitar is great. There are a few blemishes of note that I tried to capture in the photos.
1) On the upper horn by the strap button, a small scratch. (Photo 4) 2) At the top of the headstock, a small chip out of the finish. (Photo 7) 3) On the edge of the fingerboard at the second fret, a tiny chip that is 98% imperceptible when playing. (Photo 8) 4) On the fingerboard at the 4th fret, a small indentation that is totally imperceptible when playing. (Photo 10) 5) Assorted pick scratches, swirl marks, buckle rash on front and back that can only be captured in the perfect light. I tried to capture them as truly as I could.
Guitar has a wonderful tone unplugged and amplified. Frets have virtually no wear and tons of life left. Neck is true and guitar plays great with current setup at medium-low action with 10 gauge strings. Bridge pickup volume control is a push/pull pot to engage coil tap for a great single coil tone. Includes original hardshell case.
