1970's Kay brand short-scale bass guitar.  Model K-2B, made in Japan.  Very unique pickups, with what looks like tolex covers.  Can make some interesting tones, electronics are a bit crackly and could using cleaning up.  Truss rod works and is adjustable at the butt of the neck.  Currently fairly straight with light relief.  Multilaminate neck with string retainer, zero fret and block inlays.  Frets are very low and level.  Everything appears to be original, only missing the bridge cover.  Has a very cool vintage tug bar (original).  Bridge is not the best for intonation but is adjustable.  the neck pocket was not perfect, as can be seen by the gap on the sides and the neck sits slightly off the edge of the pocket on the treble side, this was necessary to get the string spacing correct.  It is very playable and has fairly decent action.  tuners are smooth and hold tune.  Beautiful sunburst finish which is in great shape, with very few marks or blemishes.  very cool 2-piece pickguard, with one piece elevated.  Has original Kay headstock logo, which are often missing from these basses.
