TG-250 "Lady on the Beach" no.169
Redwood Burl Top

A couple of weeks ago I completed my first offer like this here on Reverb - where the buyer called out the hardware, pickups and switching, and I completed the guitar to his specs. I'm very happy with the end result, and I think the buyer is too. His feedback is here somewhere...

This is no.169. My notes say I glued up the body in March of 2011. I finished it (lacquer) in 2012, then I set it aside while I developed my "Shorty Joe" line of short scale guitars and basses, and my TG-521 model.

This Redwood Burl was recovered from one of those thick slab coffee tables with the bark still on the edges. The builder had woodburned his initials and the year 1971 on the bottom.

I've made half a dozen guitars from this slab of burl, with enough for three more caps waiting in the bin. Each has sounded fine, no matter which other woods I used for the backs and necks. I expect this one - with a semi-hollow alder middle section and birdseye maple back - to have a clear, articulate mid-range tone. The redwood might bring out more of the hollow tones than my maple caps.

The bolt-on neck is a mix of rock maple and cherrywood. 25 1/2 inch scale, 22 jumbo frets, rosewood fretboard with 12 inch radius, abalone dot inlays, 2-way trussrod, 1 11/16" nut slot.

For a deal like this to be successful, we need good communication. The Reverb messaging system is easy to use and allows for us to keep a record of our evolving agreement.

To begin, just tell me you're interested. That stops the clock. I won't sell it out from under you while we're discussing options. That goes for everyone. First come, first served. Hold off on any payment until we finalize the deal.

The picture of the completed guitar above is a different guitar from the same slab of burl mentioned above. It is only shown to give you an idea of what this guitar (no. 169) will look like when completed.

The $2100 price would be if you choose the same hardware as shown in the completed guitar picture:

Seymour Duncan SH-1 "'59"(neck) and SH-4 "JB" (bridge)
Gotoh Tune-o-matic bridge/Stop tailpiece
Grover Midsize Rotomatic Tuners
Non-locking strap pins
One CTS 500k volume pot.
Push/pull tone pot for coil tapping
Ebony knobs
Switchcraft Toggle
All Chrome Hardware

If you have different ideas, I would only charge you the difference in my cost for the parts. Black hardware usually adds about $70, gold about $100.

As this is a one-of-a-kind handmade guitar, I do not offer refunds. But, if for any reason you are not happy with it, and it is returned to me in its original condition within 2 weeks of receiving it, I will give you full credit toward any of my other guitars that are completed or under construction.

Further, I will not ship this guitar unless it meets my standard of playability. If I don't like it, I will refund your money in full.

So, let's get this conversation started. It usually takes a couple of weeks to gather all of the parts together, and a couple of days to do the final assembly, plus up to a week to ship.

Take a look at my other offerings here on Reverb, and Google me to learn more about my work.

Thanks for looking.
