CORNER MUSIC HAS SOME OF THE LAST REMAINING AMERICAN-MADE BREEDLOVE MANDOLINS.
We’ve always been fans of Breedlove mandolins, especially their American-made solid wood models. Over the past few years, they’ve phased out U.S. mandolin production in favor of their excellent Crossover line (all-solid wood, great value). We still have a few older Oregon-made Breedloves in stock—the last available.
The Breedlove Premier OF mandolin combines playability, tone, projection and excellent value in an all American-made instrument, using American materials.
The simple teardrop (“O”) shape of the Premier OF mandolin offers substantial projection and a deep range—it combines clarity and authority. With a solid Sitka spruce top and solid Western maple back and sides, the OF has tone-bar bracing and F-hole construction for even more projection.
Breedlove mandolins’ radiused fingerboard, slightly wider nut and oversize frets are easy to play, especially for guitarists adapting to the mando’s smaller scale. The finish is practical too, with a semi-gloss vintage sunburst.
Why We Like Breedlove Mandolins
We realize traditionalists like their mandolins a certain way, and that Breedlove’s designs are a bit to the left of normal—so they’re not for everyone (forgive us, Mr. Monroe). But we like different. And we like what Breedlove mandolins offer in terms of tone, finishes, design and value. They don’t cost a year’s salary and they don’t look like everyone else’s mandolins. We’re good with that. Those boys in Oregon might be on to something.
