Custom Dean EvoXM Stereo Short Scale 8-String Electric Bass Guitar

Here's another cool hybrid creation for you short scale bass guitar fanatics, a new, never-gigged, very good condition, custom-built Dean Evo XM Stereo Short Scale ELECTRIC 8 STRING BASS GUITAR, brought to you by my Reverb shop, Off-The-Wall-Guitars. 

I built this instrument because I feel there is a genuine need for more affordable short scale 8-string Bass Guitars on the market; the Hagstrom reissue bass being the only one currently available. 

PLEASE NOTE: I classify these guitars as "new..other" because while the parts are from other instruments they are new custom creations and have never been gigged or played anywhere other than set-up. 

 This custom built extended range short scale 8-string bass guitar is comprised of a standard 4-string Dean Evo Xm Short scale Bass Guitar and has been converted to 8-string.   

All of the 4-string, 6-string and Baritone Bass Guitars I build are true 30" short scale bass guitar length unless otherwise noted.

Guitar Condition:   

The custom 8-string Bass Guitar is in excellent structural shape and very good cosmetic condition with only some very fine scratches with no dings, gouges or chunks of wood missing. 

A chrome colored plastic V-8 emblem has been added in the area between the pickups for a little extra hot-rod coolness. This emblem is self adhering and can be removed or permanently glued in place. The low bass strings are top loaded and the octave strings are strung through the body. 

                                    Set-Up and Action  

The  Dean Evo XM Stereo Short Scale ELECTRIC 8 STRING BASS GUITAR  has been professionally set-up by my guitar tech, master luthier Ashley Davis and is ready to play with medium-low action.  

Action is a very subjective and personal thing; every builder/seller claims their guitar plays like butter. All our hands and fingers and touch are unique; my butter might be your margarine. We try very hard to set-up the guitars with medium low action and I think they're easily playable, stay in tune and you won't have to use the guitar neck as a crossbow for your next hunting experience with Ted Nugent. Your playing preference may vary from mine. 

 Strings and Tuning:  

The 8-string bass guitar is tuned as a standard bass guitar (E-A-D-G) and is strung with a brand new set of SIT Power Wound Nickel 8-String Bass Guitar Strings, gauges 95-75-55-40 on the low bass range and (E-A-D-G) 45-35-25-18 on the octave range. The octave strings are on the top and struck first when playing. 

                                               Sound: 

The 8-string bass sound is reminiscent of a standard bass guitar and piccolo bass guitar playing together, similar to a 12-string guitar. The custom 8-string is wired for stereo with dual outputs, allowing for greater sonic possibilities. With the separate output jacks, you can use two amps for a more hi-fidelity sound. The bridge pickup signal can go out to a guitar amp for more mid-range and highs and the neck pickup signal can go out to a bass amp for a solid low end (roll off the treble); your tone will be huge.

Eight string bass guitars are great for riffs; the octave string fills out the tone. They also sound amazing with effects.
