I have a 2012 Fender American Select Stratocaster here. This one comes with it's tweed Deluxe hardshell case and original factory paperwork. Also below my written ad i will post the Fender factory write up for this guitar which includes the model specs. Also note the tremolo is an upgraded Super Vee Blade Runner.

I have much to say about this one so let's start with condition. This Strat is in very good condition. Upon scrutinizing it, i see that the beautiful maple body top shows just faint surface level signs of use. There is nothing on it that i can single out as a ding or a penetrating finish scratch.

The body edges show a few small finish blemishes, about a centimeter or smaller size. I see one where the edge meets the body top. And three tiny ones on the bottom body edge near on the side that has the lower strap button.

The body back, shows surface swirling, but no indentations that i can find. And a few very soft surface scratches that do not sink into the finish and are just a level above being surface swirling themselves. So overall there is a fair amount of very faint superficial playwear on the body back. But no single ugly ding or penetrating finish scratches.

The tremolo backplate, features a patriotic and very sticky sticker that i opted to leave on as it seems to want to peel off the plastic. If that is not to your liking it can easily be replaced with a new 10$ backplate.

Also note that the Tremolo has been upgraded to a Super Vee Blade Runner. This has been well setup by my local luthier/tech and plays well. It's one of the better regarded boutique bridges out there. And is perfectly compatible with and fitting here. I believe Fender has even used these on Eric Johnson Signature guitars as he is endorses and loves these bridges. The original is not included.

Feel free to research this Trem as it is quite an innovative, quality product. Tonally i do think it sounds a little different then the stock Fender assembly. I hear more of the overtones and bell like chime that the Fender AVRI vintage tremolo assemblies have. I would say it's sound sits somewhere between that and an modern USA fender bridge. With an outstanding feel and playability.

The neck shaft and headstock looks nice and clean, with nothing to report there. And the frets look very good overall. With just a little bit of fretwear in the common cowboy chord area which is the first few frets of the G and B strings. This appears as just a small bit, the beginning of level wear. There are no pits, or divots in the frets and the majority of frets here so no wear at all. And lastly the electronics are working perfectly like they should in all area's.

I would rate this one overall an 8.75/10 cosmetically. A respectable clean used instrument with modest playwear, but no bad dings or signs of abuse. The hardcase is in good working order and very good cosmetic condition as well.

The American Select series has become very well regarded over the last few years. Guitar players have recognized these are the highest bracket of Fender production line guitars right before the custom shop models. The feature set on select series uses absolutely gorgeous premium exotic tonewoods, that usually are only seen on custom shop models. So in a sense it is an affordable alternative to a CS, and from an aesthetic beauty and tonality standpoint there is not much separation.

This Strat features a figured flamed maple neck. And an equally figured flamed maple body top. The Fender factory dye/coloration done to this guitar gives it almost a natural wood appearance, like the wood intrinsically is that color. It's not to bling and bold to the point of looking synthetic. It is classy and transparent enough to emphasize the figuration of the maple.

Tonally this guitar instantly, and unequivocally sounds great from the moment you plug it in. It's not a tone that needs to grow on you. It's a high quality Strat tone with a little something extra. Maple tops are used on guitars to add more frequencies and overall projection and attack to the tone. This guitar has a nice natural big sound, it resonates and sustains. But what stands out to me is that it is strong in both the upper bright, and lower warm frequencies. It has articulation and clarity, especially with clean tones. The maple and single coil pickups certainly are a good formula for that. I do hear a sweetness and smooth warm overtones from this guitar to. That is not something i always expect from a maple neck and maple topped guitar. But really good maple equipped guitars actually still have a warm tone to them.

It has no ice picky highs, or harsh, shrill top end that commonly plagues single coil instruments. The treble is distinct, but has a harmonically rich pleasant sound to it. I play this guitar at the exact same EQ on my amp that i use for a Les Paul with humbuckers. It's a great single coil tone.

So that's the story on this one. This guitar does justice to it's price point. It is not out of of it's depth at all compared directly to a 4k$ maple topped Fender Custom Shop Stratocaster.

I will pack this guitar up with sufficient filler and bracing in the box to protect it, and will detune it a full octave prior to shipment. With arrows drawn on the outer box to denote it to be shipped Standing.

Thank you for reading and considering!

Premium choice of woods
Fender held nothing back when designing the American Select Stratocaster. In fact, we've never seen a Strat like this before. It's got a highly-figured flame maple top, highlighted by a hand-stained finish. The neck is flamed maple, quartersawn for extreme strength. And the compound-radius fretboard is buffed, an extra dose of class you won't find on many guitars. While these details look amazing, they all add to the incredibly rich tone of the American Select Stratocaster.

The Select neck
The neck is one of the most important aspects of any instrument, which is why the Fender American Select Stratocaster features a quartersawn flamed maple neck. Besides looking good, the straight grain of quartersawn necks is about 50% more stable than plain-sawn necks, and less likely to warp, twist or shrink. You'll also love the playability and feel of the Select Strat's contoured heel and 14" radius when you're playing higher up the fretboard. Down low, your fretting hand will appreciate the 9.5" radius that keeps things nice and comfortable for natural, relaxed arpeggio work.
