This Oahu Kay Tonemaster Lap Steel w/ Stringtone is from the private collection of Nils Lofgren.

Kay made these awesome high quality lap steels starting in 1948 and used this Headstock design from 1950 thru 1959.

This vintage Tonemaster lap steel is made by Kay. It has been modified with a Stringtone Tuning Changer. The Stringtone is an aftermarket device of relatively the same age. It has a dial that automatically changes the instrument's tuning.

Nils used the Tonemaster in his home studio.

This lap steel features its fair share of bumps and bruises. Marks on the front and back. Significant mark on the back. Tuners on the headstock are wearing away from age. Couple of them are in rough shape. Lap steel functions well though and sounds remarkably cool.

Does not include a case.
