Rare and interesting piece of history. Serviceman guitars were built in the Philipines in the 60's expressly to sent to our boys fighting in Viet Nam. They were made to be affordable, rather crudely built, but visually pretty accurate. Every part made in-house. Inside, pretty bizarre looking, but oddly enough everything works as it should. Wiring is surprisingly done with all shielded wire and seems to function as it should. Everything looks almost home-made. Pickups are strong at around 8K and they sound good! Finish is not what you'd get from Fender, but I believe is original as under the pickguard the word "sunburst" is written on the body. Look at the pickguard, what appears to be 3 layers is actually a painted black line in the center. Headstock logo is hand painted. No truss rod but I hear there's a bar of steel in there. Plays nice. It would take forever to describe all the oddities. Research "serviceman" guitars, there's a lot of info. Original hard case, sounds and plays better than I ever expected. Vintage historic guitar fun for not a lot of$$$.
