1986 Gibson Acoustic Guitar Prototype

This is a one-off handmade Prototype created by one of the Gibson factory Luthiers in Memphis Tennessee in 1986. It is a dreadnaught style with a thin profile and a single sharp cut away. The thin body (2 1/8 inch) is black with a rosewood neck and a standard Gibson head stock and Gibson tuners. It has very slight age marks on the back of the body but no buckle scratches. There are a few small nicks on the body, one just above the sound hole and two others on the lower top body below the sound bridge. Slight visibility to the front body seam and not if it has been repaired. It has a ding on the front body as pictured. A few other minor marks and dings. Other than that, the guitar is in very good condition. The action appears fine and can be played acoustically or through an amp. This is a piece of Gibson history, only one like it that I know of. The guitar was purchased from Gruhn Guitars in Nashville Tennessee in 2012. The inside label has somehow disappeared. I contacted Gruhn and though they could not source the original purchase receipt they thought it could be a Chet Atkins Prototype. It comes with what appears to be the original Gibson brown hard case.
