Overview
Named after Gibson's hometown of Kalamazoo Michigan, Kalamazoo guitars were produced from 1933 to 1942 and then again from 1965 to 1970 as Gibson's in-house budget brand. The solidbodies made under the Kalamazoo name in the late '60s originally used a very Fender-like body with uneven horns, but this was switched to a more SG-style body in 1968. The KG-1A specifically sported one pickup and a tremolo tailpiece.
