Hagstrom was the world's first instrument manufacturer to offer an electric eight string bass, which quickly inspired many bass and guitar players as well as other bass builders. The bass was only manufactured between 1967 and 1969, during which a total of 2,249 were produced. The strings were arranged in pairs, each pair being tuned an octave apart. The bass was built to be played like a regular four string but producing a luscious chorus of bass tones. It was of course possible to tune in 5th or other intervals.
Hagstrom recommends that you use only genuine Hagstrom Strings for your 8-string bass.
