I recently acquired this rare Vintage 1972 Fender Super Six Reverb Amp Chassis, Reverb Tank with Original Bag and Footswitch. I cleaned it up, got the Reverb working and saw that the Vibrato/Tremelo "bugeye" (opti-wachmacallit) was split open. I took it to my top South Florida Tube amp tech---every cap, resister and part has been tested and replaced if not within specs. We tested all the tubes and changed out some---various tubes are vintage and some are newer. The Reverb Tank looked brand new although I believe it is original to the amp and the Reverb Tank Bag cleaned up like new. I replaced one of the jacks on the original Footswitch, the case looks rough but works fine---an easy restore project if you want (with REV VIB decals available).
Although the original Cabinet with 4 blown original speakers was/is available, I did not have the means of transporting it. Mojotone had a sale going on so I purchased a brand new Fender Twin Reverb Head Cabinet and installed the Chassis.
The Super Six Reverb Amp Chassis is basically a Twin Reverb. The Result is
a Vintage 1972 Fender Super Six Reverb/Twin Reverb in a Mojotone Head that sounds incredible and can be used with an 8 ohm, 4 ohm or 2 ohm Speaker set-up.
I have plugged this amp into various speaker configurations--- I plugged the Super Six into my 1966 Super Reverb Speakers and the sound was incredible with a bright, lush reverb, fabulous tremolo/vibrato and a "punchier" sound than my '66 Super Reverb. With 4 6L6 power tubes it is simply like a Super Reverb/Twin Reverb combination or a Super Reverb on steroids.
The Head weighs a little over 40 pounds but should be easy to ship. Local checkout and pickup is available and encouraged here in South Florida. Please be aware that Reverb.com's shipping quotes are only guesses---could be more or less depending upon where you are located. I charge you only what I am charged.
