The Gibson MasterShop 125th Anniversary SJ-200 Monarch commemorates 125 years of craftsmanship, innovation, and authenticity.
Since 1894, Gibson has been shaping sound across generations, genres and gender. This American-made instrument, handcrafted by their skilled artisans, celebrates founder, Orville Gibson, legacy, heritage and vision of being the worlds most relevant, played and loved instrumets in the world.
The hand selected quilt maple back with rosewood center strip features a hand done scrimshaw portrait of Orville Gibson surrounded by engraved inlay.
First created in the mid-1990's, the Monarch, has become the ultimate custom edition of Gibson's world famous Super Jumbo acoustic guitar. The Gibson Monarch is one of the most dazzling guitars ever built by Gibson. Sublimely sophisticated tone emanates from the guitar's solid select sitka spruce top and three-piece quilt maple back and sides. The Monarch is veneered with the guitar's serial number displayed in the banners of the mother-of-pearl inlay.
Featuring some of the finest executed work in the industry the Monarch contains extremely intricate inlay patterns that are finished with incredible precision containing multiple inlays within inlays of mother-of-pearl and abolone. A true Mastershop build from the Gibson Custom Shop Montana.
The 14 karat gold crown and select Montana Sapphires were made by Jeweler Sam Ferraro. Orville Gibson's image was made by renowned guitar-artist-entrepreneur Harvey Leach.
Both making this custom a uniquely expressive Gibson-Heirloom and a true "Number 1" one of a kind!
