Right out of the gate, I want to heavily emphasize that although this rare axe has no serial number (appears to have been touched up/painted over at back of headstock), it has been thoroughly vetted through law enforcement in our area & is clean. It was purchased as part of a collection of vintage guitars from an established & reputable dealer in our area.

With that out of the way, this 1982 (dated by pot codes, see pic of same) 1st year Hamer USA Phantom A5 shredder guitar has definitely seen betters days cosmetically, it is totally sound, set up nicely & plays like a dream with lots of great 80's Hair Metal crunch tone.

Has some fret wear, but lots of life left in them & plays buzz-free with very low action.

The pictures pretty much tell the story cosmetically, but all finish wear is pretty much relegated to paint wear. No significant scratches, no buckle rash, no cracks & no dents or dings worthy of special note. The guitar has not been abused, just heavily played over the years & has a great relic vibe. The lines you see in the paint are simply finish striations/checking.

Other mentionables are as follows:

1. Missing grommet & trem bar to tremolo.

2. Missing back tremolo cover.

3. The tone pot was swapped put at some point, but the original was still with the guitar. I checked it on my meter & it reads from 0 to 470kohms & shaft action is sure & smooth. I suspect it probably was just scratchy & needing cleaning, but owner just installed a new pot.

4. Volume knob is original, but tone knob is not.

This guitar has been fully set up with 09's by a professional tech, so if go with heavier gauage strings, some minor adjustment may be needed.

It comes with it's original hardshell case is good condition. The case is square & structurally super solid, but both tongues for the latches on the ends have broken off. The lower mechanical portion with slide releases of both work 100%, so just need to install new tongues.

The interior is in very good condition & only real mentionable is that the black vinyl lining for the compartment lid is detached. Just needs to be re-affixed with some contact cement. The exterior shows soiling & one area with a "tan line" due to a removed sticker. I suspect with some elbow grease, the case will clean up to look much nicer.

Pickups are all original & the triple-bucker is a beast! The neck single has awesome, lush, liquidy warm tone & solos played in this position just sound incredible.

Here's your chance to own a genuine, first year Hamer USA Phantom A5 that plays killer as long as you can live with the finish wear. Also, given no real wood damage, it would be a great candidate for a refin. I like the relic vibe myself.

Shipping via UPS Ground insured w/tracking to the US Lower 48 only is $60.00.

Thanks for looking & good luck to all!
