This is a 1961 Supro Dual Tone, 97% original, the guitar made famous by David Bowie. This is the original guitar that Supro currently reissued and pumping out This guitar is a doozy, it's defiantly a player's grade guitar, with the only issues being cosmetically. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder and to me I see this guitar naturally relic'd, the way a relic'd guitar should be. The electronics and sound on this sings amazing and is distinctly unique. It's actually one of the better guitars in my rig. It's a vintage guitar with actual history that won't break the bank.

The history of this guitar is pretty cool-it actually was made in the Chicago Valco manufacturing plant in 1961. They actually made pre-production tweaks to this model and were shooting for this revolutionary technology of pickups but it didn't go as planned/engineered and they ended up getting the unique sounding pickups that are infamous with the guitar today.

Condition
She's not pretty, but it's what's in the inside that matters. The pickups and electronics are pumping and there's nothing to worry about with them. The frets are in great shape with no major wear. The guitar cosmetically is a different story with the original paint/coating peeling in various areas (see in pictures) This is common with these Dual Tone's from this era. Also, there are various dings and scratches. (see in pictures) One tuning shaft is a tad bent but working. (see pictures) The Supro badge is missing on the front headstock. (S/N is intact on the back) All these cosmetic things do not effect the playability of this guitar.

I say this guitar is 97% original because of:
• One tuner button has been replaced (see picture)
• Pickup switch tip has been replaced
• Supro badge on headstock is missing
I like to be 110% honest when selling, so pictures of the worst are attached towards the end. Keep in mind that the camera couldn't pickup all the scratches.

It comes with a non original hardshell case seen in pictures.

All in all, it's a great sounding vintage guitar with actual history for the price.
