This left handed bass guitar is in wonderful condition with all original parts. The neck stamp shows Nov. 7, 1965. It is being sold for an estate but we believe it has been owned this seller since the 1970's. We will pack it and ship it very carefully. Comes with original hardshell case.

The Fender Jazz Bass was introduced in 1960 as a higher-end alternative to the Precision Bass with closer string spacing, a thinner neck profile at the nut, and two punchy single-coil pickups. The CBS Fender buyout brought a number of change sto Fender production. By the end of 1964, Jazz Basses used pearloid fingerboard inlays instead of clay, and a three-layer plastic pickguard instead of single-ply celluloid. Also in 1965, Fender added binding to the neck of the J Bass.

Years of Production: 1960 - present

Unique to this Year: Period inlays and plastic pickguard introduced by late 1964. Neck binding introduced in 1965.

Body Style: Offset solidbody

Wood Composition: Alder body, Maple neck with veneer Rosewood fingerboard

Design Elements: Bolt-on neck, block inlays, 34-inch scale length

Finish Specifications: Sunburst was a standard finish for '60s Fenders. Rare and custom finishes can substantially increase the value.
