AEA R84 B-Stock

This Ex-Demo AEA R84 is in perfect condition with no signs of use. The R84 is a passive ribbon microphone that's designed to be flexible and practical for many different recording situations. This microphone was re-engineered to be more efficient, lighter and less expensive than the R44 resulting is a new microphone with a classic sound. The R84 produces rich and full low-mids, a smooth top end, and has a well-behaved bidirectional pickup pattern. These aspects, combined with the reduced proximity effect, make the R84 incredibly well-suited for both close-up and ambient mic applications in medium-sized rooms. It’s just as versatile as an R44, flattering voice, strings, brass and drums alike.

Product Overview
Much of the comeback of ribbon microphones in the early 2000s can be chalked up in no small way to AEA in Pasadena, CA, and their R84 certainly helped lead the way for a new class of microphones to find a place in studios of all sizes. This modern classic borrows from the RCA 44 and 77 microphones while having a sound and personality all its own.
