For sale is a beautiful Taylor 612-C Cotten Special edition from 1995- One of only 62 made!
This beauty has been upgraded with an aftermarket L.R. Baggs ribbon transducer pickup system that sounds phenomenal for finger style and light picking. The guitar is is great condition with a few small blemishes to the finish from normal day to day picking. Starting from the bridge, there is a small split in the top, that is barely noticeable, but is worth noting. The fretboard is in great condition, and there is a small amount of wear on the frets under the B and E strings, which does not affect the tonal quality or playability. This guitar has been used to gig, however the vast majority of its life has been spent in a climate-controlled environment. The tone quality of this instrument is second to none, and the action is superb. Original Taylor hard shell guitar case included with purchase. The tonal quality of the Taylor 612 series is second to none, with a great balance of highs that can cut through a band to lead, and lower end to carry the rhythm.
Along with the fantastic action and great tone, this Taylor is an eye-catcher with its unusual florentine (sharp) cutaway and cotton ball fretboard inlay.
A brief history of the Cotten guitar follows:
The story I've heard was that Richard Cotten, the late owner of Cotten Music Center in Nashville, had Taylor make 62 of these "specials" in 1995. They were basically a standard 612c with an upgrade in the highly flamed maple back and sides, extra nice Sitka top, the florentine cut away, and a custom cotton ball variation to the standard 600 inlay. A portion of their price was donated to the Leukemia Foundation, in Richard's honor - he later died from the disease.
For a 21 year old guitar, this instrument is in good condition and has been babied and loved. If you have any questions, I would be happy to answer them and will get back to you quickly. The guitar is priced to sell, however I am in no hurry to do so. The reserve price is a fair bit lower than I believe the guitar to be valued at, so happy bidding!
Thanks for looking, and I look forward to your response.
