Summary: The Gibson Memphis ES-335 bass is a modern interpretation of the legendary semi-hollowbody EB-2 that was in production from 1958 to 1972. You get several playability and tone-enhancing improvements over the original, starting with a 34" scale (the original was a short-scale instrument). There are still two humbuckers, but in the ES-335, Gibson has moved the neck pickup to the middle position for crisp note delineation. This beautiful bass guitar comes with the original hardshell Gibson case & we recently set it up with a new set of 45-100 bass strings so it’s ready to go!
Body: Traditional ES-335 body build with a 1961 style maple block center and a gloss ebony finish.
Neck: Solid maple neck with a wonderful rosewood fingerboard, dot inlays, 20 frets, Grover open-back tuning keys, 34” scale length, 1 9/16” nut width.
Pickups/Hardware: 2 humbucker pickups, 2 volume knobs, 2 tone knobs, 3-way switch, chrome hardware, Grover tuning keys
Cosmetics: This bass has seen moderate play in its short life – there are some signs of checking around the edges of the bass & a few light scratches on the body but no major dings or dents. The nickel hardware is looking a little aged but there is no rust or pitting. Overall it is in great used shape.
Playability: This cool & rare Gibson bass plays great – we recently set it up with a new set of 45-100 light gauge bass strings & the action is low, the truss rod is fully functional and the frets show very little wear.
