Up for sale is this vintage 1984 MV Pedulla six-string electric guitar. We can not find this model anywhere and it may have been a custom order. This guitar is much more simple than the MVP model, lacking all of the toggle switches. This looks like someone wanted a barebones model, with two volume controls and a single tone control. These Pedulla guitars are RARE and, from what we know, were only available at the time through a custom order process. We can not recall the last time one of these hit the market.
This instrument looks to be all original. The original DiMarzio pickups sound great. The pots all date to mid-1983. The neck pickup volume pot works as it should, but is pretty stiff and takes a bit of force to turn. Since it is original, we left it be for the time. The original Grover tuners work perfectly as they should.
Cosmetically, the instrument shows some wear. There are some scuffs and small dings, mainly on the body. The worst wear is on the original wooden back plate and can be seen in the photos. There are no cracks or breaks.
We just gave this guitar a solid cleaning when it came in, including polishing the frets and oiling the fretboard. It cleaned up nicely. We set the guitar up as well and it plays nicely with comfortable, low action and the intonation is spot on. That being said, the guitar does have some buzzy spots on the fretboard. The first five frets or so are pretty low and it buzzes the worst in the "cowboy chord" region. It is playable as it sits, but would very much benefit from a professional refret.
The original hardshell case is included. It is intact and sturdy, but shows fairly heavy wear. The latches are all there and work as they should, but the thumb-latch releases are gone. The latches still work, but you have to use your fingernail or a screwdriver to move the slide to get them to open.
Overall, this is a very nice example of a VERY, VERY rare guitar that, with a refret, would make someone the perfect instrument. You see the Pedulla basses from this era pop up for sale pretty often and they always move quick. As uncommon as it is to see the guitars, we doubt this one will last long. Don't miss out!
