Great Archtop just stopped by our shop

Has just had very light restoration with the original condition been preserved as much as possible.

∞ Highly crafted headstock inlays, binding and finishing, has been made by  top craftsmen

∞ Flamed Maple back, Maple sides and one piece solid carved top - beautiful

∞ Pre truss rod model dated to 1957

∞ Five piece neck for strength

∞ Neck has slight relief yet not warped out of context at all - is geometrically sound and true

∞ Tuners are replacement Waverly style, reliable

∞ Intonation great,

∞ action low

∞ Good projection, sounds open and addictive to play!

∞ Has small signs of electro been installed at some time, couple of 2mm screwholes in fretboard end (very common on these)

∞ Lively and responsive soundboard typical Hofner Jazz/Swing sound

Unbiased objective condition report

Headstock

All inlays present and in very good condition, a small amount of wear to the lacquer round the very edges and light wear commensurate with honest use

Machine heads

In very good working condition

Frets

Polished, in original and good condition with no real wear to the fretwire

Fingerboard

Inlays are in excellent condition,
Slight areas of wear to the fretboard commensurate with honest use.

Neck
In very good condition, some age related mellowing of the binding with areas of checking inkeeping with the vintage patina

Strings

Newly fitted with professional quality 12 gauge flat top strings, the most appropriate for style of guitar

Sides
In excellent structural and cosmetic condition with a small 2cm area of visible discolouration to the varnish and a previous jack socket hole has been sealed by prior owner.

Back
In excellent structural and cosmetic condition with a 2cm area of wear to lacquer as shown in photo

Top (soundboard)

Has a number of inconspicuous areas of honest wear that would be expected in a sixty year old soundboard. In generally excellent structural and cosmetic condtion with a number of very small marks, dings and scratches which do not stand out unless scrutinized closely. (see photos)

Neck to body joint
As expected and seen on 90% of guitars of this age, the neck has been reset historically to an average to good standard as shown in photo's
The heel plate looks of been replaced (these are renowned to be prone to shrinkage over time)
 
Bridge
Seems to be original and has been re-worked to facilitate proper playing action

Tailpiece
Is German made probably original and in very good condition with a slight patina yet no real wear or damage.

Case
Red coloured interior complimenting the guitar, overall condition very road-worn, refurbished and protects the guitar well
