With serial number 001, this is the very first R-1 ResoLectric that National Reso-Phonic built, dated 12/89 (according to George Gruhn's Guide to Vintage Guitars, only 206 were made total). The guitar's label is signed by both National Reso-Phonic founders, McGregor Gaines and Don Young, and the instrument was owned by the late fingerstyle blues guitarist Dale Miller. Dale's long-time friend, guitarist and writer Teja Gerken is helping facilitate the process of selling several of Dale's instrument.
As a first-edition ResoLectric, the guitar has a Chandler lipstick pickup and an LR Baggs acoustic pickup in the bridge (later models use P-90s and Highlander bridge pickups). There's an 18-volt preamp (with two nine-volt batteries) preamp for the Baggs pickups, and the two pots control volume and blend between the pair of pickups. The guitar has a full National single-cone resonator setup, and offers a wide range of tones. Check out the video of Dale playing the guitar with the Chester D. Wilson band.
The guitar is in good/very good condition, with some honest playing wear, and slightly corroded tuning machines. It's completely original and includes a non-original hard-foam case with backpack straps.
