Ibanez 540PSH MADE IN JAPAN in the year 1989 This is also known as the unofficial Alex Skolnick model. While this is often referred to as a 540Pii this is actually a 540PSH.
This 1989 Ibanez 540PSH is beat up and very much in need of some restorative effort. The pickups and the nut are definitely non-original. This has an IBZ USA F2 pickup in the bridge whereas the original pickup would have been an IBZ USA F3. The neck pickup on this is probably a single coil pickup from a Strat but that is unverified. The nut on this is the standard Ibanez 43mm nut whereas the original nut is 45mm wide. The original nut IS included in the case, but it looks to be in pretty bad shape. The wiring on this is pretty bad, so the pickups have a tendency to go in and out. The frets are pretty well worn down and have divots in them. Also, this is missing a truss rod cover and a trem arm. If you look closely at the pics, you'll see that there are holes on the front of the body where (presumably) a MIDI pickup was installed and there is also a chunk of wood taken out of the back of the lower horn. Dings, chips and scratches abound throughout (see pics). There will be no returns on this one. If you buy it, it is yours. I've been pretty forthcoming about the fact that this guitar is not in good shape and needs repairs and restoration. Fender aficionados love old Strats with this "Heavy Relic" look but this guitar really does need some love and restoration.
On the plus side, the neck does appear to be straight, actually plays quite nicely, and has NO crack behind the locking nut. Guitar Paint Guys ( GuitarPaintGuys.com ) can give you a loud neon paintjob for $235, so you can make this 540PSH whatever color you like. I'd recommend this guitar to you if you are good with a soldering gun and don't mind having to take the the guitar in for new frets. This is an extraordinarily rare and excruciatingly difficult guitar to find, so you have to consider whether it is worth your effort to restore it.
