(USED) A rare and beautiful 17" archtop from Bourgeois Guitars in Lewiston ME! Though these weren't produced in vast numbers, it's clear from this instrument that Dana is as comfortable in the carved-top world as he is in the flat-top world.
With a beautiful sunburst atop a carved solid European spruce top, this instrument is subtly stunning, visually. The flame maple on the back and sides is stained to match the tone of the top, the whole thing is just a feast for the eyes. Jazzers will love everything about this instrument, from the cutaway, to the classic appointments, to the mix of pickups. In the neck position, a Kent Armstrong humbucker with adjustable pole pieces, to dial in the sound of the strings... and under the hood, a K&K archtop pickup to exhibit the resonant sound of the body. The sound is very satisfying acoustically, but plugged in it sounds especially distinguished. Maple clarity with spruce warmth and sustain.
1 3/4" nut width, 2 5/32" string spacing at the carved, compensated ebony bridge. Neck is straight and the action is set low and quick... but there's plenty of room in the truss rod and on the wheels of the bridge to dial in pretty much any setup for any popular electric string gauge. The tuners are gold Schallers with ebony buttons. Beautiful carved and bound ebony pick guard and tailpiece. Ebony fingerboard with no fret markers. Truss rod access at the peghead.
The condition is excellent, with a small ding on the lower bout near the tail piece, and another on the horn of the cutaway. Very minimal fret wear. Includes original hard case.
