Planet Waves studied hundreds of 1/4" instrument jacks, and found the many are arbitrary in their "interpretation" of the published spec. Some even varying in length enough to cause the inserted plug to slip out due to lack of a positive latch. Planet Waves designed American Stage Geo-tip TS plugs with a tip shape that makes a positive connection inside any jack - regardless of how off-spec it may be. These custom connectors are manufactured by Neutrik in their state-of-the-art facility in Lichtenstein.
