Born during the spring of 1965, this 3-Color Sunburst Strat has miraculously survived unscathed through the decades.

Every component on this sterling instrument is original, from the
soldering joints on the electronics to the original “Greenguard” pickguard. The CTS pots date to the 14th week of 1965, while the gray-bobbin bridge, middle and neck pickups bear the dates 5-3-65, 5-17-65 and 4-5-65, respectively. This means they come straight from the legendary period when Abby was winding pickups—and possibly were wound by the famous winder herself.

We’ve even managed to preserve the original white Tolex-covered hardshell case that accompanied it when it was first sold to an eager musician in ’65.

OVERVIEW
1965 Stratocaster in 3 Color Sunburst, Serial number L71971. Perhaps one of the most recognizable Strats of all time. Considered the "transition era" for the Strat, the "L" serial number generally indicates "Pre-CBS". A significant departure from the original early 50's Strats, the 65 has some striking features that exemplify the end of the Leo Fender era an illustrate the evolution of the Strat from its early counterpart. The 3 Color Sunburst color which was standard in the '60s. A pure document of the era and a time when the Strat was about to become as big as the Rock Stars who played it.

NOTES
This guitar is in incredible condition and beckons the call to pick up and play. A pretty comically clean guitar. Some wear on the sides from what looks like just being taken in and out of the case for about 50 years.
