Vintage 1940's Electromuse "Canoe Paddle" Lap Steel Guitar with Original Case
This vintage Chicago-made Electromuse lap steel features their "Eye-Beam" pickup, one of the earliest electric guitar pickups ever marketed on a large scale. This may be one of the earliest examples, as the Electromuse logo was not etched onto the face of pickup (the only one we've seen that didn't).
This guitar is in amazing condition, especially considering it is nearly 80 years old! Original pots, paper-in-oil capacitor, tuning pegs, nut and chipboard case - all in fine working condition. Even the original permanently attached cloth cable still works fine. You can get it to cut out if you shake the plug vigorously, but it worked consistently for us when simply plugged in and played. Original pots still work beautifully. Tuning pegs also work fine and the buttons are not brittle. The original finish still looks great and is in remarkable condition for its age.
Includes original pebbled chipboard case in nice condition with all latches, hinges and original leather handle fully intact. Included in the case are a vintage tonebar and picks.
Strings on the guitar are 50+ years old and need to be replaced.
Overall a very nice historic instument in excellent functional and cosmetic condition for a bargain price!
