Overview
After a few years of badgering from dealers and players, Norlin-era Gibson finally did bite the bullet and start making Les Paul Standards based pretty closely off of '59 specs in random short runs. These guitars do have quite a bit of variation as they were never a "catalog" model, and production of these moved entirely to the Nashville factory from Kalamazoo in late 1984, which can greatly affect value.
