I bought this a while back from a friend of mine, he bought it new and bought the case for it a little later. The great thing about this guitar is that all the dings and scratches are on the back, the top is pretty much mint. The worst ding is on the back of the headstock. These are very hard to find, because they were an extremely limited production guitar. The other finishes are easier to acquire, they only made a relatively small number of goldtops. This guitar always gets a lot of looks and compliments from people who come by my house. They all think it's a fantasy piece because of the Fender Les Paul strange combo. The tone is pretty much what you would expect, it sounds like a maple top guitar. I thought that I would hate the Quad rails, but I actually feel like they are a great fit for this one. They are fat as hell, but also have a really pronounced mid-range bite. You can coil split these pickups if you wanted. I played a few GnR, Pantera, Metallica, Zeppelin songs and it really nailed them. These pickups are awesome especially if you use high amounts of gain/distortion. Of course it would be easy to swap these out if you don't like them. I lowered the action to 1/8" at the 12th fret so it plays really fast, even with the jumbo frets. Just installed a new set of Ernie's 10-46 strings. Please feel free to ask questions.
