100% Cellulose Acetate tortoise sheet pickguard material blanks

Up for sale is a tortoise pattern sheet of 100% cellulose acetate. Single ply, all cellulose. It measures 10” x 8” x 0.10”.

We have been using it for guitar pickguards, back plates, and truss rod covers, and it’s the perfect thickness for pickguards, 2.5mm (0.10”). This is the last of the batch. You can see in the backlit picture that it has great translucency to allow light and the background to show. The beauty of this stuff is, unlike PVC tortoise or some other materials, the pattern is THROUGHOUT the sheet, not just on the surface.

This material cuts easily with scroll saw, mill, steel-rule die or laser, and glues with Binding Cement, double-sided adhesive, or acetone. Scratches can be removed by buffing with a white wheel, such as found on a drill or a polishing machine, and then finishing up by hand with auto wax. Cellulose acetate is far more stable and far less flammable than cellulose nitrate. When it’s all cut and polished up, it looks amazing.
