For sale is a fully refurbished, 100 percent functioning, extremely rare Trident (TRIAD) B Range 24X4X2 Channel Discrete Class A Recording Console. The B Range, not to be confused with the later trident 80(B) desk, is the direct decendent of the venerable and heavily desirable Trident A Range console. The B Range was built side by side with the A range at the Trident Recording Studios technical facility in London, England.

The A and B Range consoles were designed by a highly esteemed team including exceptionally skilled and accomplished technicians and engineers Malcom Toft, Ken Scott, Roy Thomas-Baker and Barry Porter. The B Range shares the same mic amp, line amp, equalization circuitry as well as mic and line input transformers as the Trident A Range console and was designed for clients who didn't desire such a large format desk in terms of routing, channel count and size. The schematics for both consoles are nearly identical, not to mention the similarities in cosmetic design.

This particular desk was believed to have spent it's early life at SARM studios in London England and played a critical role in the recording of legendary albums such as Queen’s "A Night at the Opera" and the late David Bowie's "Diamond Dogs"

The frequency response and sonic character of this console is truly astonishing. The console is flat from 10hz-20k. I've never heard low end that sounds anywhere close to this desk. It's absolutely huge without being muddy. The overall tone is very similar to an 80 series Neve (specifically a 1073) but a bit more hi-fi sounding without the stuffy sounding lower mid build-up. The 3 band EQ ranges in frequencies from 60hz-12k. With inductor based mids, it is simple and broad, yet very effective and is a sonic staple on British rock electric guitars.

An extensive and thorough restoration was performed on this console less than a year ago by an extremely competent technician here in Los Angeles. I can provide documentation and receipts for all this work which includes:

-Full cleaning of EVERY pot and switch on the console and replaced when not performing to spec.

-Full recap of the console. ALL electrolytic and tantalum capacitors were replaced in every channel strip and monitor module.

-Full recap of the Accopian power supply units and new wiring looms built.

-Cleaned, refurbished, traced and clearly

labeled the onboard 1/4 inch military type patchbay.

-Added Direct Outs on channels 13-22 using

Carnhill CA-18-VTB9049 output transformers accessible via XLR outputs on the back panel of the frame (same used in Neve/BAE)

-Changed all mute lights to LED

-Added a custom built mix-buss by designer David Harrelson (Objective Audio) with a corresponding stereo fader and a pair of Sifam VU meters installed just above the patchbay

The mix-buss is accessible on all 24 channels via toggle switch above the 4 buss routing switches. This toggle switch takes the program material on that channel in or out of the

-All factory modifications printed in the
updated TRIAD Audio Developments
documentation in 1977 have been
performed. These upgrades were designed
to increase headroom and square wave
performance in the A and B range desks.

The console includes:

24 Channel strips with all original Marinair Zutt 012a mic transformers

24 Routing modules

4 Monitor modules

1 Master Module

24 Penny & Giles faders

1 Stereo Penny & Giles fader for mix buss

All corresponding line amps and summing
amps.

FULL SET OF DOCUMENTS AND SCHEMATICS

The Console also comes with an abundance of spare parts! This includes but is not limited too: Many monitor modules, faders, line amps, edge connectors, pots, switches, extra wood paneling and metal work for the frame, power supplies....enough to keep this desk going forever. I will even include in the sale a 10 channel sidecar frame should the buyer want to add 10 more channels to the desk down the road. This console is truly plug and play. With all connections made via XLR on the back of the desk, set up and wiring should take very little time at all.

Finding a vintage 70s discrete console in this condition is nearly impossible these days.

Local pickup is recommended but freight
shipping is available at sole risk of buyer. All
Sales final. Please message me with any
questions you might have and we can set up
a phone meeting to go over the console. Local interested parties welcome to view the console in person.
