Vintage / antique 1925 Gretsch Clarophone 17 fret tenor banjo. This vintage instrument is fully functional and mostly original and was constructed from a laminated maple tonepot and bi-laminate maple neck with that recognizable large volute where the neck meets the headstock / peg head. The integral tonepot resonator is nicely grained maple and the fretboard is dyed rosewood with fancy inlays.
This 90+ year old antique banjo plays easily with a low action and freshly crowned frets. The head is original, the tuners are original, nut and Grover no-tip bridge are both very old but not original. Nickel plating shows minor wear from age and evidence of professional crack repairs on fretboard and tonepot veneer but these are minor repairs you have to look close to see. Overall this time traveling antique banjo is in far above average good condition and plays & sounds good as well. Strings are new.
American-made quality!
Always willing to trade for pre 1970 american-made drums, drum parts, banjos, mandolins, organs, accordions, and unusual instruments. I'll also consider instruments that need repairs or that are missing parts. Banjo does not come with hardcase but occasionally I have some antique cases for sale, please ask!
Due to high UPS & FEDEX rate increases, I now prefer to ship USPS. The entire instrument will be heavily bubble wrapped and professionally packaged.
