Jumbo acoustics were first developed in the 1930s for Country & Western musicians, to provide a big sound that would cut through better. Yamaha's CJ12 does just that job, with a robust, tonally well balanced delivery combining a clearly defined high end and deep, solid lows. The guitar's finely crafted cosmetics reflect popular jumbo styling, not least the moustachio'd bridge, a large, sculpted tortie pickguard, and a bound neck with triangular-block inlays. The body's white-edged multi-ply binding contrasts vividly against the lustrous Violin Sunburst finish. A guitar that looks as good as it sounds.
The CJ12 is an affordable version of the CJ32 handcrafted jumbo acoustic, with similar cosmetics and design. The combination of Spruce top and Agathis back and sides provide a well-rounded tone.
