Acquired this 1983 Hamer Phantom A5 in a recent deal. In very good shape to be 33 years old. There where 2 things that immediately caught my eye when this came in. First, was the fact that it was left-handed and the second was truss rod cover, engraved with the name 'Elliot Easton'. It has been my experience that Hamer engraved the truss rod covers of guitars going to an artist. I asked the client if he was the original owner and this is the story he told. "I was living in the Boston area in 1984 and went to a local music store named Daddy's Junky Music. When I went in, one of the salesman who knew I was a lefty told me that Elliot Easton had been in the week before and traded in several guitars and asked if I wanted to see them. Of course I did and this Hamer is the one I decided to buy.' He also stated that the guitar has remained unchanged since his purchase, except for replacing the pickguard, which cracked in the late '80s. He also stated that this has remained in the case for the last 25+ years.
I contacted Elliot Easton and provided him with the story and some photos to see if he could authenticate the guitar. He told me that the story sounds consistant with his memory and that the guitar looks like the one he used to own, except for the pickguard. He also said
that since he didn't sell it to me personally, he was unable to authenticate it 100%.
I will entertain cash + trade offers. Interested in same era US made Hamers, Gibsons, Fender Teles, Explorers, FLying V's, Ricks (gtr or bass), Heritage, etc. RIGHT HANDED please as I'm not a Lefty!
